Rise of Mana coming to iOS and Android

Square Enix has just announced that they'll be releasing the next title in the Mana series (known as the Seiken Densetsu series in Japan) for iOS and Android devices.

This new instalment will be called Rise of Mana and it appears to be using a fast paced action-RPG battle system similar to the ones seen in the previous Mana titles.

The official soundtrack will be released in Japan on April 23rd and it is composed by The Last Remnant composer Tsuyoshi Sekito, Kingdom Hearts and Xenoblade Chronicles composer Yoko Shimomura, as well as Kenji Ito and Hiroki Kikuta. The latter two have worked on the Mana series before. Ito was responsible for the music of the first Mana game that went under the name Final Fantasy Adventure in the West and Kikuta composed the music for Secret of Mana.

Rise of Mana will be released on iOS devices soon but android users will have to wait until this summer before they can get their hands on the game. It is also currently unknown whether or not the title will be released outside of Japan.

Oh and the game will be a free-to-play title so you can expect to see a lot of micro-transactions.

Yet another game ruined by micro-transactions...

I was excited until I read this "the game will be a free-to-play title". This game would probably have been so much better on the 3DS or Vita.

The delay between iOS and Android releases is interesting. Wondering if the microtransactions are going to go over well?

It is kinda weird that they don't release the game simultaneously on both platforms. One would think that they used a cross-platform engine like Unity for this type of game.

I do not think people will like the in-game-purchases. It might work for more "casual" games like the card games they have been releasing lately but I'm not sure if it'll go down well on a game like this.
