Tomb Raider Set to Sell 6 Million Copies

The news only keeps getting better for 2013's critically acclaimed reboot of Tomb Raider. Darrell Gallagher, the studio head at Crystal Dynamics, has taken to the developer's blog to announce that by the end of March the game will have sold 6 million copies. Just about half that number came from the game's initial launch month a year ago with the rest coming from healthy sales and a next-gen rerelease for PS4 and X1. Gallagher shared the following thoughts on Tomb Raider's performance:

By the end of this month we will surpass 6 million units for our Tomb Raider reboot, and, having achieved profitability back in 2013 Tomb Raider has exceeded profit expectations and continues to make significant contributions to our overall financial performance.

You can read the rest of Gallagher's thoughts here. It's a classy, grateful, and honest note to fans about what Tomb Raider means to him, his studio, and the industry at large. Dark Horse Comics is bridging the gap between the first game and the not-quite-yet formally announced sequel with a series of comics, the first of which is available for purchase today.

We'll have a review of Tomb Raider published shortly!

I loved the game. I have only played the Definitive Edition but I'm sure that the PS3/X360 version is just as good. I'm really looking forward to the sequel. I hope they keep the bow and add a few more tombs/puzzles to solve.

The game was great so if you don't own it and have a PS+ membership then you should download it right away! The combat/stealth elements were great but I wouldn't mind more exploration in the next game.
