Early Reviews Heap Praise on FF X | X-2 HD Remaster

Square Enix has lifted the embargo on the gaming publications that were lucky enough to receive review copies of the developer's latest high-definitiation foray, Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster. IGN, Destructoid, and GameInformer have each published their reviews and renew the critical acclaim associated with each title.

IGN's Meghan Sullivan writes:

Final Fantasy X is a brilliant game that every JRPG fan should have played by now, and whether you’re experiencing it for the first time or returning for another playthrough, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is outstanding.

Destructoid's Editor-in-Chief Dale North comments:

Spira has never looked better. If you've played Final Fantasy X more than a few times, you'll appreciate how it seems like you're seeing the game's varied locales for the first time. Details pop out, and foreground set pieces have been shined to a polish.

And, lastly, Kimberly Wallace at GameInformer writes:

For those who want the complete arc of the Final Fantasy X saga, the collection delivers. Even without a nostalgic lens, both games hold up well.

Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remake will release in North America and Europe next week. It released in Japan last Decemeber.

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't like Final Fantasy X / X-2

FFXs journey is great but I always felt it fell apart at the end. IX and XII have the same issue.

FFX2s story is middling but that battle system is still probably FFs best.

Loved X. Enjoyed X-2.

I've always thought that X's story came together really well at the end. X-2 was just all over the place but still very good. I agree with Xin's criticism of XII, it unraveled in the later portions of the story.

X-2 has the best battle system of the series.
