In a recent financial discussion, Square Enix mentioned that it plans to ship 11 million units of software worldwide during the 2003 fiscal year. Included in this figure was the sales for Final Fantasy XII, which Square Enix plans to release in Japan in the second half of this fiscal year. This would put FFXII's release sometime between October 1, 2003 and March 31, 2004.

Dragon Quest VIII was not included in this listing, however, indicating that the game is not expected until sometime after March 2004.
