Chocobo Breeding

Getting the yellow Chocobo is the easiest part. Just equip a "Chocobo Lure" materia and go to the Chocobo tracks near Gold Saucer or Mideel. Run around on the tracks until you meet a enemy, you're not guarantied to meet a Chocobo so if you meet normal enemies just fight them to earn some EXP. If there's a Chocobo amongst the enemies you'll hear it thanks to the "Chocobo Music". When you're in a fight with a Chocobo remember not to hit him/her, it might be a good idea to throw him/her some greens to keep him/her occupied during the fight.

Once you capture it head back to the stables (East for Midgar) and get Chocobo Billy to move it inside (You'll have to rent the stables first, its best to rent all of it). Now you need another Chocobo, the new one must have the opposite sex and it must be in good shape (the head can't be down).

Green Chocobo - Now you should have two Chocobos of the opposite sex, make sure you save your game before you breed them. Ask Chocobo Billy to bread your Chocobos, you must remember to use the "Carob Nut". If you dont get a green Chocobo then load your game and try again as the outcome is random, save when you get a green one.

Blue Chocobo - Now you have a green Chocobo and two yellow Chocobos. Now you must wait for the two Chocobos to recover, this may take some time so a good idea is to fight some enemies to gain more EXP. When they are ready again just breed them the same way you did to get the green one. When you get a blue of the opposite sex of the green one save your game.

Black Chocobo - Now you must give 10 (or more) "Sylkis Greens" to the green and yellow Chocobos, this increases their speed, intelligence and stamina. When you're done feeding them head over to Chocobo Square at Gold Saucer where you'll need to race your Chocobos (green and blue) until they reach "S" class. Once you are done racing head back to the stables to bread them with a "Carub Nut", this should give you a black Chocobo. Remember to save your game.

Golden Chocobo - To get a golden Chocobo you'll need a "Zeio Nut", you can only get this at Goblin Island (North for the Chocobo Farm). Once you get the "Zeio Nut" you'll need to capture a special (dashing) yellow Chocobo from the Northern Continent (go to the West side). Make sure that the Chocobo you catch is special (dashing), that its head isn't down and that it is of the opposite sex of the black Chocobo you already have.

When you get the special (dashing) yellow Chocobo you must race it at the Chocobo Square until it reaches "S" class. Once you have done that head back to the stables and breed it with your black Chocobo using the "Zeio Nut" (save your game first). If you dont get a golden Chocobo then load your game and try again. When you get it you can explore all corners of the world map and you might even find some secret locations.
