Battle Arena

At the battle Arena, one member of your party can participate in a series of battles to win Battle Points (BP) that can be exchanged for valuable prizes. The cost is 10 GP and there's very little risk.

The chosen fighter can fight up to eight random encounters of increasing difficulty. Any damage or negative effects from a previous fight are carried over to the next fight. After each win, you'll get the option to continue or to stop. If you stop then your chosen fighter will receive any Battle Points collected up to that point. If you choose to continue then your fighter is hit with a random effect, chosen via a one-reel slot machine.

Note: The fighter isn't actually killed in the Battle Arena. Even if they're defeated, they will leave the arena with the same amount of HP and MP that they had when the entered.

Before giving it a try, equip your best Materia, a powerful weapon and choose armour that drains or blocks magic effects. The Ribbon is a must have accessory while fighting in the Battle Arena. It can stop most of the negative effect monsters might try to lay on you (Poison, Mini...).

The maximum amount of BP that you can carry is 64,000 which is enough to buy the best items at the Battle Arena. Remember to use them before you leave the Arena or you'll loose them all. You can exchange your BP for the following items: Remedy (100 BP), Enemy Lure Materia (250 BP), Right Arm (500 BP), Pre-Emptive Materia (1,000 BP), Regan Greens (2000 BP), Speed Plus Materia (4,000 BP), Stardust (8,000 BP), Championship belt (16,000 BP), Omnislash (32,000 BP) and the W-Summon Materia (64,000 BP).

After collecting 64,000 BP, you get the chance to compete in the special battles. You must have bought the Omnislash and the W-Summon before you can try. The fights are much harder and you will be rewarded with different prizes. The prizes include: Gambler, Masamune Blade, Combat Diary and Autograph.
