Following the hubbub surrounding Final Fantasy XIII's release date (no set release date, don't ya kow) Square is committing to a release for Star Ocean: Second Evolution, the PSP remake of the PS1 original Star Ocean 2. This bad boy will release in Japan on April 2. Following the recent trend of Pre-Order Specials, anyone who preorders the Second Evolution will get a nifty little bonus DVD that includes a trailer for Star Ocean IV.

The Second Evolution follows the release of First Departure, which was a commercial success in Japan and boosted sales of the Sony PSP significantly. There has been no comment on a release date for either remakes outside of Japan.
