Seeing as how most of us aren't in Japan, we all missed a gaming release of epic proportions this weekend as Dragon Quest IX is now readily available across the Pacific.
But just how much did No.9 sell? 2.3 Million copies. In two days.
To put that into perspective, that already beats former Nintendo DS King Pokemon Diamond/Pearl's opening sales, and is less than 200k away from Japan's all time high for opening sales, fellow SQEX title Final Fantasy VIII
Japan's Favorite RPG Series + Japan's Favorite System = Cash Money~
Update - On the critical side of things, Dragon Quest IX is now the 3rd SquareEnix title, and tenth overall, to receive a perfect score (40/40) from Famitsu~

how does DQ outsell a Final Fantasy... if XIII doesn't outsell this, then im boycotting DQ!!!...=(

I don't mean that in a negative way but in north america dragon quest is made out to be second to final fantasy in rpg greatness. I'm not knocking dq but it seems them japanese like dq more and I'm wondering what about this series makes it better than
@dlm It has slimes and cats who lick themselves instead of attacking.
