Final Fantasy IX's Steam page went live today and, among other noteworthy items, it briefly listed a release window of January 2016. Steam has since updated the page to reflect a more ambiguous "Early 2016" release window but still sheds some light on the upcoming re-release of the ninth Final Fantasy. The game will require 20GB of free space, but that's not to say it actually will be that big--though if Square Enix's claims of upgraded character models and FMVs pan out, who knows? Otherwise, Steam announces the following additional improvements:
Additional Features: ・Achievements ・Seven game boosters including high speed and no encounter modes. ・Autosave ・High-definition movies and character models.
Compared to Sprig 2014 and Spring 2015, Spring 2016 has been a relatively quieter period for Square Enix. This time last year the company was launching Type-0 HD, Episode Duscae, and a new Dragon Quest. Final Fantasy IX's debut on mobile and PC is just the right kind of start to the blockbuster year ahead, which will of course be dominated by Final Fantasy XV.
And if you're worried about Final Fantasy IX for Mobile and PC, don't be. As this site's dutiful reporter, I'm going to step up to the plate and take one for the team on this one and buy this thing the minute it hits for iOS. Spoiler alert: there will be gushing.

I only write an article once every...six months or so now, it seems, so I'm quite glad this is the one I chose this time around. Final Fantasy IX has just released on Google Play and The App Store for Android and iOS devices. Even better, the game is 20% off ($16.99 USD) from now until February 21st, so pick...
Hope that they'll release it on the PS4 as well.
