In 1991 Squaresoft released Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden for the Game Boy in Japan, a game that went on to be retitled as Final Fantasy Adventure in North America and Mystic Quest in Europe. Then, in 2003, Square heavily reworked the game into Sword of Mana for the Game Boy Advance, which eliminated the game's connection to the Final Fantasy series and realigned it more closely with the Mana series.
Presently, Square Enix is preparing Adventures of Mana, a fully fledged remake for iOS, Android, and Vita in Japan but a western release went unmentioned. As another surprising addition to Square Enix's flurry of recent developments, an English website for Adventures of Mana, with gameplay screens in English, suggests that a western release is at least being seriously considered.
Square Enix has a habit of being conservative with its mobile/handheld releases for its lesser known games outside of Japan. Final Fantasy VII: G Bike was announced in 2014 and never made it to western shores. Bravely Default and Final Fantasy Explorers both waited over a year before their international debuts, so if a western release is coming for Adventures of Mana, it may not be soon.

I only write an article once every...six months or so now, it seems, so I'm quite glad this is the one I chose this time around.
