Square Enix today renewed their official site for Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. It's been a while since Square Enix's last details on this title. In this news I will be reviewing the official site with details on the games.
When the loading completes you are treated with the sound of "Dearly Beloved" from Kingdom Hearts OST.
First up on the menu, we see a brief summary of the Kingdom Hearts series. "A story in between "Kingdom Hearts" and "Kingdom Hearts II" --." Kingdom Hearts was released in March 2002 and have sold over 1.2 million copies (Final Mix includes) nation wide and over 3 million copies world wide.
In the Story section it reads... "Through the long path of the plains, he continued on. That night, he came across a crossroads. Sora stood in the center of the crossroads and looked up in the sky. He remembered his friends, now apart in different worlds. And his friends he had left behind. The end of his journey is to return to the place with all his friends."
A man walks towards Sora from the shadows of a path shone by the moonlight. He says, 'The thing you seek for lies beyond... But first, you must sacrifice something you hold dearly...'. When the man disappeared from Sora's sight, there were only one path left in front of him.
Walking, as the path lead him, he arrives at a castle. The nothingness filled the air inside the castle. The fragment of his meories scattered as it turned into cards. A fight to connect the fragments, he climbs up the stratum of the spiral like sky...
What will Sora gain, and what will he lose....."
In the Field section it shows us that the castle we see in the first screenshot is where our journey takes place in. In the last two screenshots it explains that the maps will have hights where Sora can jump over or cannot.
In the Battle section it shows us that the battle system will involve around cards. We'd see the enemy's cards when their side is in action. Stocking up a set of the same cards will increase its maximum ability. Just like in Kingdom Hearts, you'll recieve prizes such as HP/MP balls after you have successfully defeated an enemy. There are loads of moves to use and there'll be abilities other than magic spells. When fighting an enemy or a boss that is bigger than the screensize, it's best to watch your feet and plan out your strategies first. By collecting cards, you can call for powerful friends to assist you in battles. Powerful friends we've already witnessed is Cloud and his massive sword.
In the Event section it shows us screenshots of an amazingly high quality FMV. It really makes you doubt this is a game for the Gameboy Advance... One of the new screenshot we see in the collection is a unknown girl's drawing of the strange castle that Sora arrives at the end of the one way path...
