Famitsu has recently released information regarding the new Itadaki Street game for the Nintendo DS. They reported that Final Fantasy characters will not be appearing like they did in the previous version of the game (FF & DQ in Itadaki Street Special).

Itadaki Street is a Square-Enix monopoly type game that involves moving around on a 3D board, using characters as pieces and buying property.

While the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest characters appeared in successful PlayStation 2 and a PSP versions of the game, Famitsu have stated that Mario, Luigi and other Nintendo characters from Super Mario will be used instead. Reportedly there is also a chance of more Nintendo characters appearing in the title.

The Enix based Dragon Quest characters will remain as Enix were the original developers of the franchise.
