To celebrate Final Fantasy's 20 year anniversary Square Enix is going to release anniversary editions of both Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II for the PlayStation Portable.
Final Fantasy I and II are not only getting a remake but also a slight facelift and more content than the original versions. The additional content includes the extra dungeons from the Gameboy Advance versions, as well as the monster encyclopedia and music players. Also making a welcome return are the CG intros from the PlayStation remakes. In addition to this, the games will feature galleries of artwork from Yoshitaka Amano.
Both remakes will see a release later this year in Japan, twenty years after the original Final Fantasy was released in Japan on the Famicon system. European and North American release dates are still unknown.
Will they announce a remake of Final Fantasy VII using the White Engine for the PlayStation 3 later this year? It might happen since this seems like the year of the remakes.
