New SE & Disney Project is not Kingdom Hearts 3

In an interview with Gemaga and Dengeki, Tetsuya Nomura issued a few precious details about the company’s newest venture with Disney. Stressing that this new project was a series independent of Kingdom Hearts, Nomura commented that the characters from Birth by Sleep, the secret ending to Final Mix, "…are people who have some relation to the new series. However the next title won't just be Kingdom Hearts III. If it were III, we wouldn't call it a new series."

Nomura also refused to confirm or deny the existence or impending inclusion of Sora, Kairi, and Riku in the new series, commenting that "I can't say." It was also suggested that Xehanort, the villain from Kingdom Hearts II, would have something to do with the new title, as the main villain from Birth by Sleep bears a striking resemblance to him, though older and with much less hair.

Fans can expect an official announcement with more details sometime this year, but until then, Tetsuya Nomura strongly suggests that fans pop a squat, watch Final Mix's secret ending, and "start imagining."
