Square Enix has announced that they are working on a iPhone game named Crystal Defenders. It looks a lot like the cellphone game they released in January called Crystal Guardians and the goal of the game will probably be to defend a crystal from monsters (like in Crystal Guardians).

Here are a few screenshots from the game:

Alright! I was hoping they would release something for the iPhone/iPod Touch. It's a shame they don't seem to be taking advantage of the device's graphics processing power though.

i think they have an iPod game already, dunno if it's touch compatible though. that one where your songs create attacks or something.

Yeah, they do have an iPod game, Song Summoner, but it's not compatible with the iPhone or the iPod Touch. Ever since they released Song Summoner I've been waiting for an announcement like this for the iPhone/iPod Touch.

I'm probably gonna get it if its as cheap as the other iPhone games I have seen.
