According to various reports, Square has finally confirmed its release of Final Fantasy I and II for North America. Both games will come in a single package titled Final Fantasy Origins. The name was patented by Square at the beginning of December at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. These remakes are said to have several improvements in comparison to the remakes that were made for the WonderSwan colour. The first improvements seem to be those of the FMV movies. Next, several difficulty modes have been added including an "Easy mode". A new faster saving system has been also implemented into the game. Other technical elements of the gameplay were enhanced and the sound track was redone and and now possesses even more tracks that the WSC version.

Also, for good replay value, Squaresoft have added Amano's gallery at the end of the game. Every time that you finish the game, more artwork gets unlocked for your viewing. Also available is a monster data base for you to see the bestiary in the game.

The game's release date seems to be in April 2003.
