Final Fantasy XVI Shadow-Dropped on Xbox Series X|S and PC

In an unexpected move during last week's Xbox Games Showcase, Square Enix shadow-dropped Final Fantasy XVI on Xbox Series X/S and Xbox PC—iincluding the two major story DLCs, The Rising Tide and Echoes of the Fallen .

Originally a timed PlayStation 5 exclusive upon its debut on June 22, 2023, with a Windows release following in September 2024, the Xbox launch arrives nearly two years later on June 8, 2025, expanding Square Enix’s multiplatform strategy.

This release marks a major milestone for Xbox gamers—with every mainline Final Fantasy now available on the platform. Additionally, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was announced with a planned winter 2025 release .

Xbox Wire notes that the Xbox version supports Xbox Play Anywhere, enabling cross-save and cross-play between console and PC
