Square Enix and developer Cattle Call have officially released Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster as a launch title for the newly launched Nintendo Switch 2. The HD remaster—based on the beloved 2012 Nintendo 3DS RPG—delivers enhanced visuals, modern conveniences, and fresh content to both veterans and newcomers alike.

Stunning HD visuals & revamped UI – The game retains its classic artistic style with crisp, polished high-definition graphics and an overhauled interface that ensures smoother navigation. The remaster utilizes the Switch 2’s unique Joy‑Con-as-mouse feature in two brand-new mini-games, including an airship-based “Rhythm Catch” sequence, offering a fresh twist on the original gameplay. HD Remaster also features several quality of life improvements, most notably the ability to fast‑forward cutscenes. Additional refinements have been made to the game's UI and menuing system in light of the Switch 2's single, and much higher quality, display.

Players will once again journey with Tiz, Agnès, Ringabel, and Edea, striving to restore the elemental crystals that maintain the balance of Luxendarc. The iconic Brave and Default battle mechanics, supported by over 20 job classes, remain intact—offering deep strategies and customizable combat.

For Square Insider readers, this is a must-play: a refined classic that sets a high bar for the Switch 2 era.

You've got to hand it to Bravely Default. Here is a new IP, targeting a relatively niche market, with some traditional RPG elements at it's core, that SquareEnix had no intention of releasing outside of Japan. That's a lot going against you in this industry. So again, you have to give the game a bit of credit for moving 200k...
