Square has just bought Quest, the company responsible for the Ogre Battle series. This comes as a little surprise following the earlier acquisition of the OB series rights by Square.

The move represents a homecoming for the games creator Yasumi Matsuno was a former Square staff member. Matsuno wrote and directed the first two games in the series before leaving to create two of the biggest non-traditional RPGs Square has ever released - Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story.

Matsuno is currently working on the Game Boy Advance remake of FFT and co-directing Final Fantasy XII. While he has spoken publicly about wanting to continue the Ogre Battle series, no further details are known at this time.
