Square has recently made a announcement on their financial predictions for this year. The blotched FFXI launch set their profits back 80-100 million yen, or around 600,000-800,000$ US.

In addition to the PC release in Japan before the year's end, and the North American release, Square said that the launch problems would not hinder their profits in the coming term.

Shifting away from Final Fantasy slightly, Square said they would have 7 new titles available by the end of the 2002 fiscal year, hoping to release about 4 million copies altogether in Japan. Aside from its soccer and baseball titles, it was revealed that two new RPGs and an action game for PlayStation 2 are in development.

On the portable front, the WonderSwan Color version of Square's original mech strategy game Front Mission, as well as the Game Boy Advance version of Final Fantasy Tactics and a secret title should be seen on the Nintendo handheld by 2003.
