As previously reported, Square Enix held a strategy meeting in Tokyo on May the 19yh. During that meeting they confirmed that Dragon Quest VIII won't be released during this fiscal year (ends 31st March 2004). Square Enix hopes the series' eight instalment with its new look will appeal to Japanese and western audiences alike. Final Fantasy XII on the other hand, is well on track for a release sometime during the current fiscal year. It was also noted that the negotiations concerning the licenses required for the production of Kingdom Hearts 2 have yet to be completed and, thus, they have not begun production of this title.
