Square has announced its official lineup of games for Nintendo's new console, Gameboy Advance, and the list is looking good. Four games were officially announced for the GBA, along with their Japanese release dates.
The games are:
Chocobo Successor - Late 2002 Final Fantasy Tactics - Winter 2002/Early 2003 Seiken Densetsu - Summer 2003 Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicle - Spring 2003
Funded by Nintendo's FundQ, a program that gives money to companies developing games that include GameCube/GBA connectivity, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicle will be able to link up with a GameCube counterpart of the same name. Crystal Chronicle will feature multiplayer aspects, allowing players to co-operate in their adventures.
Final Fantasy Tactics, one of the first Square titles announced for the GBA, is a port of the PlayStation version, not an entirely new game. The Gameboy Advance version of Final Fantasy Tactics is expected to have several new features, though the two FMV scenes included in the PlayStation version are likely to be removed.
The new, and unnamed, Seiken Densetsu (also known as the Secret of Mana series) title is being co-developed with Brownie Brown, a Nintendo-owned second party developer made of up several ex-Square employees.
