The Official Final Fantasy XI site has revealed some new information in regards to some of the enemies we will see in the upcoming expansion, Chains of Promathia. The first enemy shown was the Wanderer who is from the species called Empty. They have the appearance of brains and prey on those that are relatively small. Within the same species come the Weepers who use their Sycthe like claws to severly wound their enemies.

In the new world of Movalpolis we will find Bugbears who look like giant Goblins and have extra eyes and an extra brain which allows them to do two different functions with each of their hands leading to more deadly strikes on gamers. The city also inhabits Moblins such as Roadman and Groundman who wander around making the area both bigger and safer for their own kind.

Corses are the animated remains of an ancient royal line that can be found in the graveyards of Parradamo. They are intelligent and work well with other undead enemies. Buffalos are a new type of fiend that roam the Ulegurand Range and are known for their exquisite meat and violent temper.

Dangerous Antlions will also be in this new expansion in the secluded chasm of Attohwa. There are two kinds of these mobs: The Hunter Antlion has the ability to chase enemies with no end in pursuit, whereas the Pit Antlion hides in small areas and pounces on its enemies as they pass by. The last and final enemy to be introduced is the eight-legged Diremite that can sneak up on users without a sound and cause status effects that last till the character's death.

The variety of mobs in the expansion, and their intelligence definitely seems interesting and will bring a great deal of good strategy in the future battles of Vana'diel. More information is bound to be released as we get closer to the product's release date of September 21, 2004.
