Nomura Talks Kingdom Hearts II & Compilation Of FFVII

In a recent interview with Japanese publication Dorimaga, Tetsuya Nomura commented on a few of his current projects with Square-Enix, most notably Kingdom Hearts II and the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII.

Regarding Kingdom Hearts II, Nomura explained that he and his team were in the process of putting the finishing touches on the game's main story. The game's scenario and voice acting are also nearing their completion. Nomura also commented that the game will be 2.5 times longer than the original Kingdom Hearts. Regarding this, Nomura believes Square Enix may have announced the game too early in its development cycle, leaving fans wondering whether development had been hit by any delays. The game has in fact been on schedule throughout and has hit no delay periods, according to him.

Nomura then moved on to the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, notably Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Regarding Before Crisis, he mentioned the game will continually expand, with two new playable characters to be added very soon, and that the game's Story Download system is about to reach it's climactic chapter. As for Crisis Core, Nomura was said to have been very upbeat regarding this title, claiming it will be an Action RPG like none before, with an entirely new gameplay system. Nomura also said he could not wait to play the game himself, and that it will be a title that will surpass everyone's expectations.

Finally, Nomura moved on to the most anticipated releases of the Compilation, Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Nomura said much of Dirge of Cerberus is based upon the ideas of Yoshinori Kitase, head of the Square-Enix First Development Team (Which is in charge of the development of the Kingdom Hearts and Compilation of Final Fantasy VII Series) and Script Writer of the original Final Fantasy VII. Although he would not give a specific release date, he did mention that the game will release sooner than expected.

Regarding Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Nomura was considerably less forthcoming with information, saying only that Square-Enix would make an announcement regarding the film very soon, presumably at E3.
