Final Fantasy IV JP box cover + EU release details

Square Enix has published the Japanese box cover image of Final Fantasy IV. The game will be released in Japan on December 15, 2005. Nintendo has revealed that FFIV will be released in the first quarter of 2006 in Europe.

In related news, RPGamer has posted the first English screenshots of the game which reveal and confirm that the game's graphics are being upgraded (as can be seen by the backgrounds, sprites, spell effects, and character portraits in the screenshots) and that the game is being retranslated for its North American release. Some changes include spells like Fire 2 now being called Fira, and Fire 3 as Firaga.

Final Fantasy IV Advance will be shipped to North America on December 12, three days before it is released in Japan. Final Fantasy V and VI are slated to be released during 2006.
