Square Enix has released new information on the characters of its upcoming strategy RPG, Front Mission 5: Scars of the War. Walter Fenn is a wanzer pilot in the US Military of the New Continent (USN). His commanding officer is a woman by the name of Lin Wainwright, who apparently has a long history with Walter and has developed feelings for him.

Randy O'Neill is also connected to Walter in that they are childhood friends and both soldiers of the USN. Randy is somewhat unreliable, but has a good judgement of right and wrong. He loves chocolate and is known for always keeping a piece in his front pocket. Glen Duval is yet another childhood friend of Walter Fenn, but unlike the other two, Glen choose to join the Oceania Community Union (OCU). A rival group that controls the areas of Japan, Australia and the Philippines. Even though Glen choose a different path from his friends, he will always be reminded of them through a scar on his left hand which he obtained when protecting Walter when they were young. Walter has his own scar but it is still unclear as to whether they are both related.

Front Mission 5: Scars of the War is set to release in Japan on December 22, 2005. No mention of a US or EU release date has been made as of yet.
