Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

Back in June, 1up was reporting that the semi-ambiguous ending of Final Fantasy XII (which had, at that time, been out for almost four months) had opened doors to a sequel that was being pursued. Well, not surprisingly, Square has decided to milk Final Fantasy XII as well, developing a prequel for the Nintendo DS known as Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, a prequel focusing on Vaan and Penelo, as reported by the Magic Box.

If these rumors are true (MB slapped it in their rumor section) then that will mean that every Final Fantasy game from X to XIII will have had direct sequels (including FFXI's various expansion packs).

Final Fantasy XII has yet to even launch in North American territories, and is currently scheduled for an October 31st release date.

Update: This has been confirmed by the scan below, which features a younger looking Vaan and Penelo. Or maybe it's the transition in graphics? I don't know.

Revenant Wings is Out

The Nintendo DS Sequel to Final Fantasy XII is out on the market in the USA today. Or, it should be, unless Square Enix has pulled another shoddy street-date-is-actually-the-ship-date release like they did with the War of the Lions. Any-who, it's getting pretty average scores on the internet, but someone give it a try and then let us know all...
