Final Fantasy Director Motomu Toriyama recently revealed some more details regarding the Fabula Nova Crystallis project in an interview with the Playstation Magazine. He mentioned that the 3 previously announced games (Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII) are only the beginning of the series and that it will be a huge project. Although Square Enix has stated that the different games in the Fabula Nova Crystallis are not directly related to each other, they do all occur in the same universe and share aesthetic similarities.

Toriyama also mentioned that the series will not be limited to cellphones (Agito) and the Sony PlayStation 3 (XIII and Verus). This could mean that other spin-off titles might be released on the Wii, DS, PSP or even the Xbox 360.

When asked about the battle system of Final Fantasy XIII he answered that the Active Timer system used in the latest installments of the Final Fantasy series has been sped up to it's limits in Final Fantasy XIII. Compared with previous Final Fantasy games, the pace battles has been drastically increased but he claims that they have still managed to maintain the tactical and strategic characteristics of the series.

Toriyama also confirmed that "Lightning" will be that main character of the game although he didn't want to reveal too many details about her. All we know so far is that she's reluctant to speak about herself and her past. The rest of the cast will be revealed in the near future.

There is currently no official release date for Final Fantasy XIII but it looks like fans of the series will have a lot to look forward to.
