Square Enix has told Reuters that a sequel for Kingdom Hearts is already in development. No platform has been mentioned, however, it is assumed to come on the PlayStation 2 or at least on the PS3. This is because Yoichi Wade (president of Square Enix) has stated that he wants to be commited to the consoles that support Square Enix games. Wade also mentioned that he wanted Kingdom Hearts to grow like the FF and Dragon Quest series. This is due to Kingdom Hearts' sales reaching over 3 million units worldwide. Now that Square and Enix have merged, it is likely that characters from Dragon Quest could make appearances in the next Kingdom Hearts. In other news, Wade mentioned that Square Enix plans to release around 20 titles in the next two to three years. He also said that the merger had taken place so as to be more financially secure for the next console phase which could lead to several small companies disappearing.
