Square Enix has released some new information regarding its 2004 title Dragon Quest VIII via Japanese publication V-JUMP. The Level 5-developed PlayStation 2 title will not only feature 3D environments and characters, but battles will also be fought entirely in 3D. Apart from the usual treasure chest hunting, it will be possible to lift barrels. As you progress through the game, you will actually be able to see time progressing as well, as there will be day and night phases. Last but not least, it was confirmed that the young lad with the red bandana, who was seen in the first official screenshot, is indeed the title's protagonist.
While Dragon Quest VIII has yet to receive a definite release date, Square Enix will probably release the title in Japan sometime during the next fiscal year.
