Square Enix USA has announced the official release date for the PC version of its MMORPG Final Fantasy XI. The game will be available on October 29th, carrying a suggested retail price of $49.99 US. The package will ship with the usual 30-day free play coupon. Afterwards, users will be charged $12.95 US per month. Creating a second character will cost an additional dollar per month.
Since its May 16th, 2002 release in Japan, Square Enix has registered more than 250,000 subscriptions for Final Fantasy XI's PlayStation 2 and PC versions. Published by Sony Computer Entertainment America, the game's North American PlayStation 2 version will be available in early 2004.
