FFXI Announces "Return Home to Vana'Diel Campaign"

November marked the eleventh anniversary of Final Fantasy XI's original Japanese launch and Square Enix has announced an all new Return Home to Vana'Diel Campaign! All former players will have their accounts reactivated automatically for free between Tuesday, December 10 and Monday December 23 2013.

In addition to that, players will be able to digitally download the latest version of Final Fantasy XI that includes this year's "Seekers of Adoulin" expansion to complete the experience. Once the trial is over, though, it's back to subscriptions as normal.

Final Fantasy XI was described as the most profitable Final Fantasy in history by Yoichi Wada and service for Square's first MMO continues unabated even after Final Fantasy XIV's relaunch earlier this year. It appears that so long as a sizable player base exists, so will Final Fantasy XI.
