Square announced the release date for their upcoming MMORPG for PC, Final Fantasy XI. The game will be released on November 7th in Japan. The game is going through a Beta test right now. From what we hear the gameplay will remain the same as the PS2 version. But the changes will be significant in the graphics and sound department. New graphics perks have also been added such as transparent windows. Skills and Magic effects have also been improved.

Square has made a deal with the graphics chip maker Nvidia. Though compatibility is promised with all current accelerator cards, Square and Nvidia are promoting the recent GeForce 4 line of cards as having exclusive graphical details and features other cards will not support. The company has a similar partnership with Digital Extremes for the upcoming Unreal Tournament 2003.
