Well, I'm done trying to make sense of amost things these days, and those may include the ramifications of Square not being as profitable right now as it has been in the past. A recent Famitsu interview with Testuya Nomura, FFv13's Director, indicates that all resources are being focused on getting the next main entry, Final Fantasy XIII, finished as soon as possible.
Why? It's anyone's guess right now. Square is banking pretty hard on their summer event to tide the appetites of hungry fans the world over until TGS in the hopes that the annual September show in Tokyo will really get us excited. (Read as: We want a demo. We don't want closed theater trailers. And we want them now.)
If you're like me, you're probably disappointed. With its dark and bloody world, Versus appealed to me more than XIII and its squeaky clean, Sci-Fi Fantasy idealism.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, our long night is over: Final Fantasy XV became available internationally today, capping more than a decade's worth of development with a warm welcome internationally. GameSpot, noting the game's expansive world and numerous activities, wrapped up their preview...

There was some speculation that FINAL FANTASY XV’s delay from September to November may have been related to Sony’s as-of-then-unannounced hardware, the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim. While the additional development time has yielded significant improvements to FINAL FANTASY XV, the whole situation is still a bit suspicious. Sony and Square Enix have announced a Limited Deluxe Edition Final Fantasy...
Wow, first Agito and now this...good to know Nomura's got Square's **** together and running so fluidly...
Agito, from the roster of games to be shown off this summer, is still in the works and apparently NOT canceled, but having some developmental issues.
T_T I was really looking forward to Versus XIII but I guess they want to get FFXIII out as soon as possible.
Let's just hope that they pick back up where they left off with production on ffvs xiii after xiii is complete.
That's really disappointing...if they had said they were going to prospone on the FFXIII to make the Versus faster I would have been very happy but...oh well...lately, Square has been nothing but disappointing it's fans :(
