Well, ladies and gentlemen, our long night is over: Final Fantasy XV became available internationally today, capping more than a decade's worth of development with a warm welcome internationally. Though plagued by pre-release leaks today was still a momentous occasion for fans of the series, and for spectators hoping to see Square Enix cement its comeback with the crown jewel of its arsenal: Final Fantasy XV.
If you're anything like me, you've watch the developer and the brand's fortunes and reputation tank in the post-Final Fantasy XIII universe. Square Enix has spent the better part of the last four years clawing its way back into relevance and to commemorate the occasion of what is, quite possibly, the most anticipated title in the company's history, two new trailers were released. The first is Ride Together, which is endearingly odd but still kind of fun:
The other is Stand Together, which is just downright heartwarming:
I arrived to Final Fantasy XV with great optimism despite remarkably low expectations. I am pleasantly surprised to say that the finished product is lightyears ahead of where the Episode Duscae demos and Platinum Demo experience left us and a lot of fun. Not to mention that we get chocobos pretty early in the game too, so there's always that.
On a much more meta note: it's crazy strange to be writing this article so many years after the first time I wrote about Final Fantasy Versus XIII for Square Insider. Ultimately, I do think that the fifteenth Final Fantasy will go down as a victory for Square Enix. Things having come full circle after the wild ride that was these last ten years.

Final Fantasy XV is just over 40 days away from release worldwide and Square Enix has given multiple gaming new outlets an extended stay in the world of Eos. Destructoid, Polygon, and GameSpot have posted opinions that range from lukewarm at worst to downright giddy at best. GameSpot, noting the game's expansive world and numerous activities, wrapped up their preview...

September has been a crazy busy month for Square Enix. From PAX, to GameStop Expo, to TGS and now EGX, the company has been giddily showing off its blockbuster lineup to crowds across the world. The upcoming HD remaster of FINAL FANTASY XII: THE ZODIAC AGE was livestreamed at EGX, courtesy of PlayStation Access this weekend and the result is...

The impossibly named KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 FINAL CHAPTER PROLOGUE is creeping closer and closer to its release. Arriving on the PlayStation 4 in Japan on January 12, 2017 in the west on January 24, 2017, the game will mark the last major entry in the Kingdom Hearts saga ahead of Kingdom Hearts III. You can view the EGX stream...
Still waiting for my copy... Pre-ordered it from Square Enix several months ago :(
I don't think I'm ever going to finish because I can't stop doing sidequests. pleasantly surprised how this is shaping up.
Still haven't received it... (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Yeah, there's a ton to do in this game. And even though the open world is limited to Lucis, the map is massive. The playable portion of the Duscae demo is a sliver compared to the rest of the map.
Have played it for a few hours and I really like it so far. Love that you can listen to old soundtracks while riding around in the car.
There are some minor things that kinda annoy me though. Like when you try to talk to a NPC or pick up an item and you jump instead.
Not really a spoiler, but fuck Costlemark Tower!
Edit - cleared it. holy hell @.@
Finished the main story. It's in the top tier of FF's for me, really surprised me.
Woah, really? I thought the story was a mess after Altissia and straight through to the ending. I hope they patch in as much content possible that was cut to meet the launch deadline. Especially since there's a NG+ on the way.
Yep. This is a really similar game structure-wise to MGSV, but with key storytelling differences. It's not overly complicated, it hits the right notes to keep you invested, it doesn't hand hold you trying to explain overly complex details, and you end up drawn to the characters. Even the goals of the antagonist make more sense than most FF villains.
There is no story before Altissia, honestly. before that it's world-building done in a very good, altogether new to the series way. It was a nice change of pace for the series.
After the mess of XIII and the great (but stop-start nature) of XIV, I thoroughly enjoyed every part of this game. Finishing up some of the postgame stuff now.
sorry to post here but, are we the community of SI dead? so sad :(
Seems so, old friend. Hope you are doing well and still creating incredible designs out there!
Just remembered that I never beat Costlemark -.-
