With the release of Patch 2.55 last week, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn reached the zenith of it's storyline content, and prepares the march to it's first expansion, Heavensward. To celebrate, Square has released the expac's opening cinematic for all to enjoy. A word of warning, this video does contain spoilers for the end of FFXIV:ARR's storyline.

Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward will release worldwide June 23rd, with early access starting the week prior. Player's will take part in the defense of the Holy City of Ishgard in the Dragonsong War against the Dravanian Horde, meeting new playable races (the Au-Ra), Beast Tribes (Gnath and Vanu-Vanu) and Primals (Ravana and Bismarck).

Players will also explore the northern reaches of Coerthas as well as new lands The Churning Mists and The Sea of Clouds with the aid of flying mounts and player-built airships, and have access to three new job types (Dark Knight, Machinist and Astrologian),

Two weeks after release, players will gain access to The Mechanical Fortress Alexander, the spiritual successor of the Binding Coil of Bahamut, as well as a successor to the Crystal Tower in Patch 3.1. All in all, things are...looking up~
