Episode Duscae 2.0 Next Tuesday; Stella is No More

Version 2.0 of the Final Fantasy XV demo, Episode Duscae, is set to drop next Tuesday, June 9th. It will feature frame rate improvements and graphical enhancements, hoping to resolve as many player concerns as possible. Final Fantasy XV will be absent from E3 this year, instead pinpointing August's Gamescon as the start a renewed marketing campaign for the game.

Otherwise, today's ATB Report confirmed that Stella—the female lead from much of the game's initial renders and content back when it was Final Fantasy Versus XIII—has been cut. She has been replaced by Luna, the young woman who has been spotted in various CG reels since the game's relaunch in 2013. The development team will be launching a new official website for the game in August that includes the changes based on feedback that the team received, but there was no mention on whether or not Warp Strike has been fixed to keep Noctis from teleporting into walls...

There are various other, semi-major developments regarding FFXV. Kazushige Nojima has been replaced as script writer by Saori Itamuro (Dissidia script writer), and the majority of his vsXIII/XV story has been re-written.

Staffers from XIII/XIV have joined the already existing development team (comprised mainly of KH staffers).

These changes all seem to have happened around 9-10 months ago, so where there are in the development process now is unclear.

And lastly, FFXV will not be appearing at E3 this year.

All this is probably in the video above now that i think about it, but I'm too lazy to watch.

Well, I've said it before and I'll say it again now: all these changes under Tabata basically reaffirm the dawdling and ineffective directorial skills of one Tetsuya Nomura. It sounds like Tabata and his team have basically rebooted the whole game at this point; I'm surprised that Yoko hasn't been replaced by Takeharu...

Really looking forward to checkout out version 2.0 of the demo. Wish they had an english dub of the video so that I could listen to it in the background while at work :p

Soundtrack work isn't done side by side with development. Shimomura's work, the main themes of the game, was likely finished some time ago, with secondary themes to be produced by in-house composers following her examples.

I still haven't watched that video, so maybe they mentioned it, but it's worth noting that character designs (including Cindy), are now being handled by in-house artist Roberto Ferrari (FFType0, various mobile titles).
