Final Fantasy XV NA Box Art Confirmed

During their marathon livestream of E3 2016, Square Enix revealed the almost-final North American version of Final Fantasy XV’s box art for PS4 and Xbox One. This week the developer confirmed that, with some minor changes, the version from June is indeed the final version that will ship with the game on September 30, 2016.

American Cover

For purists, the cover will be reversible to a solo feature of Yoshitaka Amano’s beautiful logo which is noticeably absent from the default American cover.

Reversible American Cover

I’m ultimately undecided on the cover quality. On one hand, I think the Japanese cover is brilliant, even if it plays into the “bro-trip” criticisms leveled at Final Fantasy XV quite frequently. On the other hand, the American cover lacks the logo and stumbles into the “western gamers only like action” convention that often carries over to our market. But only time will tell how good this game actually is which, incidentally, is only just over 2 months away.
