Square Enix has reported through the official Final Fantasy XI sites that the number of active users playing the game has reached 1.5 million as of September 28, 2004. They shared some more statistics which included having 550,000 players log on during the same day and having a record 170,000 users log in simultaneously on September 18, 2004.
