SquareSoft launched it's online services a year ago (on the 16th May 2002). Square Enix will release a new budget version of Final Fantasy XI in Japan in June, for 4800 yen ($38,84 USD). This version will not include the recently released expansion pack but it will have all the latest patches of the game, so it's not necessary to download any updates from the PlayOnline server after installation.
